TRAFFIC IMPACT ANALYSIS
Project
DeShazo Group served as the traffic engineering consultant for DART’s Starter Line, helping to support the launch of the initial light rail system and associated transit facilities in Central Dallas. Since its debut in 1996, DART has transformed mobility and the economic environment, with 20 miles of light rail and 20 transit stations in its initial development.

🚦 Traffic Engineering & Transit Planning
1. Conducted traffic impact studies for rail stations, park-and-ride lots, and bus timed-transfer stations.
2. Performed corridor studies for median-running light rail trains.
3. Developed signal timing optimization for roadways adjacent to the rail line.
4. Evaluated grade separations, street closures, and routing for construction and operations.
5. Designed geometric layouts, signage, and crossing controls for vehicles and pedestrians.
🏗 Station Access & Design Support
1. Provided design guidance for station locations and pedestrian/vehicular access.
2. Recommended traffic controls, including signals, signs, striping, and pavement markings on and adjacent to DART sites.
3. Ensured all improvements supported safe, efficient, and accessible transit operations for riders and surrounding communities.
