MAIN STREET PEDESTRIAN CROSSWALKS
Public Facilities / Dallas, Texas
DeShazo Group was hired by Harwood International and the Eureka Hotel Group to address issues associated with the proposed Joule Hotel operations. The firm evaluated the existing Stone Place Crossing/Main Street intersection pedestrian crosswalk to determine the impact(s) of possibly removing the signal. The firm recommended modifying and relocating the current pedestrian crosswalk to facilitate valet parking for the Joule Hotel and developed a schematic design for three proposed pedestrian crosswalks that incorporated a valet operation zone and traffic signal designs for these areas. The firm provided pavement and sidewalk design information to the selected civil engineering firm, provided coordination between the architect and design team relative to the main entrance/sidewalk to the proposed hotel site, and resolved DART’s concerns regarding their bus operations on Main Street associated with the crosswalk and signal relocation.
