Texas Tech Amarillo Project

Project Overview

DeShazo Group provided comprehensive transportation planning and design services for a 3,800-space, seven-level parking garage and an innovative pedestrian passageway connecting the main and west campuses. The facility supports daily student parking and high-capacity event traffic for Kyle Field football games and Reed Arena events.

🚗 Parking Garage Planning & Management

1. Designed a large-scale garage with capacity to serve daily campus parking and large event crowds
2. Integrated Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) features with real-time digital message signs at four access points to communicate parking availability on each garage level

🚶♂️ Pedestrian Passageway Design & Safety

1. Developed an ADA-compliant 60-foot-wide underpass to safely connect campuses across a busy five-lane roadway
2. Analyzed pedestrian demand and passageway capacity during peak event periods to optimize cross-sectional design
3. Recommended design elements to minimize traffic conflicts and enhance safety for both pedestrians and nearby vehicles
