PEROT MUSEUM OF NATURE AND SCIENCE
Cultural Facilities / Dallas, Texas DeShazo Group, Inc., conducted a parking demand study for the Perot Museum of Nature & Science. The site is located near Downtown Dallas adjacent to the Victory mixed-use district (home of the American Airlines Center) and the West End Historic District. Several major destinations and major public parking areas are located within convenient walking distance to the site. The parking study was used to support a request for a code parking reduction for the site taking into account the surrounding public parking opportunities. A phone survey of several recently-constructed museum facilities was conducted to evaluate the recent trends in on-site parking for cultural institutions, and an on-site study and survey of the existing Dallas Museum of Natural History at Fair Park (the parent organization of the then proposed Museum of Nature & Science) was also conducted to provide additional background data. A cursory traffic review of the site access was performed to develop recommendations for site access on the adjacent roadways. The review considered the existing traffic control and surrounding land uses. |
