PK-6 / Arlington, Texas In, 2020, DeShazo Group joined a team for the redevelopment of Webb Elementary School in Arlington. The Firm was requested to prepare an existing and new traffic management plan for multiple phases of buildout as well as a traffic impact analysis. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it was impossible to collect existing traffic movement counts for the study zone. Rather, DeShazo Group worked with the City of Arlington to obtain recent traffic data collected in 2019, scaled to reflect typical conditions that would have existed under non-pandemic conditions. DeShazo reviewed and provided insights on both the existing and proposed traffic management plans as well as the traffic impact analysis. We made recommendations regarding improvements to signal timing to compensate for identified failures in Level-of-Service (LOS) for certain intersections approaches. We worked closely with both the school district and the City of Arlington to address these recommendations and see concerns of all parties properly addressed in the impact analysis and management plans. |
