DISD ADAMSON HIGH SCHOOL
K-12 / Dallas, Texas DeShazo Group, Inc., provided a traffic impact analysis for Masterplan Consultants associated with the development of Adamson High School, a 1,300-student public school, and renovating into office space the existing high school building adjacent to the site. The site is located between Davis Street and Jefferson Boulevard, east of Beckley Avenue. Initial occupancy is estimated to occur by fall of 2012. The findings of this TIA were used by Masterplan Consultants in applying for a zoning change request from the City of Dallas. This TIA analyzed the anticipated impact of background traffic growth and site-related traffic at specified buildout conditions. It was determined that the proposed development would have a moderate impact upon the existing conditions, but that the additional traffic could be accommodated by modifying the traffic patterns and signage for the roadway network surrounding the site. This effort is expected to generally maintain or improve the existing level of service once the project is completed. DeShazo Group also developed a traffic management plan (TMP) for Adamson High School. A study was made of the drop-off and pick-up procedures, personnel assistance, and locations for each grade level; the ingress and egress points to the campus; on-site circulation patterns; queue lengths on- and potentially off-site, etc. Several recommendations were made to modify the traffic flow patterns to various roadways both on- and off-site as well as implementing additional signage. The TMP will be reviewed on a regular basis to confirm its effectiveness and compliance as well as investigate the potential for improvements. |
